Here, farmers harvest only mature plants and replace them with new vines, thereby ensuring the forest thrives for future generations. Our artisan partners in Java use traditional weaving techniques passed down from mother to daughter for generations. Rattan production and weaving offers indigenous people an opportunity to own their own businesses, be self-supporting and improve their standard of living.
