Jorma Kaukonen has almost as many cowboy boots as he did guitars, but his love of boots is specific. He loves Lucchese Boots...still does. Finding the right Lucchese boot requires spending hours in western wear shops going through dusty boxes to find just the right boot. The search ended when Jorma Kaukonen pulled this box down from the top shelf at Watsonatta (the best western wear store on the eastern seaboard) in Boone, NC., when he was playing the main stage at Merlefest back in the mid 2000's. These boots feature a classic cowboy toe with a 1 -1/2 inch western heel. They were part of the Lucchese 2000 Line of boots. Lucchese's are normally handmade, but these boots are a Goodyear welt construction, and have an integrated non-removable padded comfort foam cushion inside the insoles. They were designed to offer Lucchese style at a slightly lower price point than the premium Classics line. His favorite color is black so he wore these more than any other boot but only on stage. If you find any dirt on the heels of these boots, they are from the last Lockn' Festival in Arrington, VA., a dust bowl trek to get from stage to stage. If you buy these boots, you are wearing a piece of rock and roll history.
